JMERC Partners with UNESCO-IICBA to Strengthen Education Data Systems in Two KIX Africa 19 Countries

We are excited to announce a new partnership with the UNESCO International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (UNESCO- IICBA), under the Global Partnership for Education – Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (GPE-KIX) initiative. This partnership builds on JMERC's ongoing commitment to strengthening education systems through evidence-based planning, data literacy, and inclusive capacity strengthening across Uganda and the region.

Through this partnership, JMERC will lead two complementary interventions: a capacity-building workshop for district education officers focused on strengthening Education Management Information Systems data management skills and a national workshop to enhance data literacy and inter-ministerial collaboration on the use of education data for planning, budgeting, and policy formulation in Lesotho and Eswatini, respectively.

These efforts align directly with JMERC's broader mission to advance education through foundational learning, inclusive systems, and evidence-driven decision-making, and will contribute practical, transferable lessons for the wider KIX Africa 19 country cluster.

This engagement also provides JMERC to collaborate with UNICEF and the African Union Pan African Institute for Education Development (AU-IPED), who are also members of the KIX Africa 19 Hub Consortium. We look forward to working together to strengthen education data management, promote evidence-based policy, and build stronger, more accountable education systems across the region.
