Championing Gender Equality, Inclusion and Strengthening Resilient Systems in Education

The purpose of this cross-disciplinary project is to co-create, implement, and evaluate the impact of a gender-transformative education initiative on gender equality, inclusion, and the strengthening of educational systems in Uganda.

This project seeks to address these critical questions in gender: (1) What initiatives are devoted to supporting gender equality and equity in Uganda’s education system? (2) What are the strengths and weaknesses of existing initiatives supporting gender equality and equity in Uganda’s education system? (3) What policy, sociocultural, and systemic challenges hinder gender equality in Uganda's education system? (4) How effective are collaborative approaches, partnerships, and stakeholder engagement in enhancing gender-transformative processes for girls, particularly in addressing challenges such as teenage pregnancy and facilitating their return to school post-childbirth? and (5) How can collaborative strategies and community engagement promote gender equity in education for boys?

Through rigorous and participatory process, the initiative aims to identify innovative strategies that address barriers to gender equality, strengthen educational systems, and empower both girls and boys to thrive in an equitable, inclusive educational environment.
